Minnesota Food Shelf Program (MFSP) Grant

The Minnesota Food Shelf Program (MFSP), sometimes referred to as the “state grant” or the “spring or fall grant” is an annual state funded grant, as described in the MFSP state statute 256E.34, available to non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status and Tribal Nations participating in The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).

The application for the 2023 – 2024 MFSP grant closeed on Friday, October 6th.

2023 – 2024 MFSP Updates:

  • MFSP will be distributed once a year, in late fall. In years prior to 2022, MFSP funds were divided into “fall” and “spring” grant periods.
  • Grantees are required to submit the application online via our new grant management platform. For detailed instructions on how to complete the online application, please reference the Grantee Guidance Document here.
  • Only brick and mortar physical food shelf locations will receive base funding for the 23 – 24 MFSP Grant. Mobile Programs will have their service statistics included in the final grant total, however no base funding will be provided for Mobile Programs.
