Food Shelf Grants

The Food Group, previously Hunger Solutions, distributes grants funding in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families, to ensure food shelves have access to the funding they need to serve their communities. Below is information regarding current, or upcoming, grant opportunities:

Minnesota Food Shelf Program (MFSP) Grant

The Minnesota Food Shelf Program (MFSP), sometimes referred to as the “state grant” or previously referred to as the “spring or fall grant”, is now a one-time-a-year annual state-funded grant, as described in the MFSP state statute 256E.34, available to non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status and Tribal Nations participating in The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).

ARPA Food Security Grant

ARPA Food Security Grant

On November 25, 2024, Governor Tim Walz announced a $5 million investment in remaining flexible American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to support food security across Minnesota.

Application is closed for this grant. 

Final Reports for the ARPA Food Security Grant are due by January 15th, 2026.
