Hunger Solutions Minnesota is helping to administer three pools of grant funds to help food shelves and other hunger relief partners address the needs of Minnesotans during COVID-19 pandemic.

Minnesota Food Shelf Program (MFSP) COVID-19 Food Shelf Funding
In partnership with Minnesota Department of Human Services
Hunger Solutions Minnesota is now accepting applications for the State Fiscal Year 2020-21 Minnesota Food Shelf Program (MFSP) COVID-19 State Grant. This grant is a one-time appropriation from the Minnesota Legislature administered by the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ Office of Economic Opportunity (MN DHS OEO) and Hunger Solutions Minnesota.
Minnesota food shelves will receive a total of up to $2.5 million to purchase food, diapers, toilet paper and other necessary supplies. Eligible food shelves will receive $2,000 each in base funding. The remaining fund balance will be allocated among eligible food shelves using the Minnesota Food Shelf Program formula, which is based on number of individuals served.

COVID-19 MFSP Grant Report Form
Minnesota Food Shelf Program (MFSP) COVID-19 Transportation Funding
In partnership with Minnesota Department of Human Services
This application serves as the request for COVID-19 Emergency Response Funds allocated by the Minnesota legislature on Thursday, March 27th for transportation services to support food security in response to COVID-19. At least $2.64 million in grant funds will be awarded to support a network of transportation organizations in the distribution of food and supplies to clients. Grant funds may be used to support transportation efforts through initiatives such as mobile food shelves, meal programs, and other support services that get free or low-cost food assistance to people in need.

MDRF COVID-19 Immediate Food Needs
Hunger Solutions Minnesota is offering $250,000 in emergency grant funds through the generous support of the Minnesota Disaster Recovery Fund (MDRF) for Coronavirus, established in partnership with the Minnesota Council on Foundations and Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation. Emergency funds are available to food shelves and community-based hunger relief partners across Minnesota to support new projects or service expansions that address emerging community food needs and service gaps due to the COVID-19 crisis.
