Hunger Solutions statement on Minnesota-based fraud allegations
Hunger Solutions was deeply disheartened to learn of the alleged fraudulent misuse of federal funds intended to feed Minnesota’s children during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please be assured that Hunger Solutions operates independently from the individuals who were indicted and their respective organizations.
Hunger Solutions is proud of the work we accomplished during the pandemic. Just as we have for over 20 years, we worked closely with the Minnesota Department of Human Services to distribute $23 million to food shelves, food banks and tribal nations across our state at a time when it was needed the most. We remain committed to transparency. Our processes to distribute funds to community-based organizations are strong and long-established.
Minnesotans are facing hunger at similar rates as they were during the beginning of the pandemic. The alleged fraud that occurred has threatened support of anti-hunger initiatives and aid for children, families, and seniors throughout the state. Despite the challenges, we will continue to work hard to ensure that everyone in Minnesota has access to the food they need to thrive, and we thank you for your continued support and trust.
