TEFAP Update March 2008

We received some good news recently from the Minnesota Department of Human Services Office of Economic Opportunity. It looks as if we have available an additional $400,000 plus for TEFAP food entitlement acquisition through the end of the 2008 calendar year. Depending on what products we order this could mean an additional 10 to 15 truckloads of TEFAP product.

Most of these funds became available through a formula revision of poverty statistics by the USDA, and has nothing to do with the impending Farm Bill. We are hopeful, that even with this additional food, we will be able to maintain the zero shared maintenance program at least through the end of September.
