Mobile Food Shelf Grants Awarded
Mobile food shelf programs increase access to nutritious food for individuals who experience barriers to accessing food from traditional food shelves. Mobile food shelves bring the food shelf directly to individuals who have mobility issues, disabilities, lack transportation or do not live near a bricks-and-mortar food shelf.
In 2015, the Minnesota Legislature appropriated $2 million in mobile food shelf funding (HF1843/SF513). This funding, distributed under a contract with Hunger Solutions Minnesota through a comepetative grant selection process, funded 17 mobile programs in 2015.
