Dear Hunger Fighters:

It’s been a rough few years, and we’ve all seen the news stories about the number of people who are unemployed or living in poverty in our state. For some of us, we’ve also seen the effects of the economic downturn in a personal way. We’ve seen our friends, family members, or neighbors – people who were doing pretty well just a few years ago – suddenly struggling with crushing financial problems due to the loss of a job or unexpected medical bills. At some point, hearing about the struggles of so many people in this country can become so overwhelming that it’s tempting to stop listening.

At Hunger Solutions, we are listening – we hear the voices of real people struggling with hunger every day. We’ve talked to Susan, a mother who called us, weeping quietly, telling us she’d lost her job and was ashamed and scared – her daughter was about to come home from school, and she had nothing to feed her.

Tom, the Vietnam veteran who knew his health was deteriorating because he simply didn’t have enough money to eat healthy food. These voices follow us far longer than the time it takes to help the caller – the voices carry with us, urging us to work even harder and keep trying to find new ways to fight hunger in our state.

We are keeping up the fight, and we need your help. Please donate to Hunger Solutions Minnesota this holiday season and help us provide immediate help to those in need while we seek out long term solutions to the problem. This year, thanks to our donors, we’ve been able to get nearly a million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables out to food shelves across the state. Through our HelpLine, we’ve helped thousands of families and seniors find emergency food and enroll in public nutrition programs. We’ve distributed more than one million dollars in grants to food shelves so far this year, and we’re working every day to advocate for better, smarter solutions to hunger and poverty in our state.

  • The stories and the statistics may be overwhelming – but at Hunger Solutions, our response is powerful, comprehensive, and statewide. Please donate today and support us in this vital work.

Warm regards and best wishes for a festive holiday season,
