Hunger Solutions Creates Mealtime Memories for Minnesota Families with #FoodFlashback Campaign

For every new Facebook “like” or story shared, AT&T will donate $10 to fight hunger in Minnesota

Thanks AT&T!

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Sept. 09, 2013)— Across every cultural, ethnic and geographic divide, food is a unifying element that binds together all of humanity with a single, shared experience. A new campaign called #FoodFlashback is translating this wealth of food-related memories into help for hungry families.

Throughout September, Hunger Solutions Minnesota – with generous support from AT&T – is encouraging Facebook users to share their favorite food memories. For each new Facebook “like” or story shared, AT&T is donating $10 – up to $5,000 total – to help hungry families get the help they need to make their own positive mealtime memories.

“For many people, mealtime is a celebratory experience that fosters deeper connections between family and friends. But for thousands Minnesota families, it’s a source of anxiety and fear because they don’t know if they can afford their next meal,” said Colleen Moriarty, executive director of Hunger Solutions Minnesota. “With #FoodFlashback, we want to harness the strength of food memories to make people more aware of food insecurity statewide, and raise funds to help families in need.”

A recent report from Hunger Solutions Minnesota, a statewide hunger relief group that works with local and regional hunger relief organizations throughout the state, highlighted the need for more resources, even as the state’s overall economy continues to improve. The #FoodFlashback campaign is one way Minnesotans can help address this critically important issue, simply by sharing stories about how food has impacted their lives.

“AT&T has been connecting Minnesotans with their world for more than a century, so it is a natural fit for us to promote greater understanding and connectivity around an issue that impacts everyone,” said Paul Weirtz, president of AT&T Minnesota. “We are proud to support Hunger Solutions Minnesota and we encourage our customers throughout the state to share their #FoodFlashback stories.”

Participating in #FoodFlashback is easy and free – to participate, Facebook users simply visit and “like” the Hunger Solutions Minnesota page, then click on the #FoodFlashback photo and share it with a story.
