HSM Lunch and Learn Sessions in Fargo, Detroit Lakes, Grand Rapids and Duluth Next Week

Please join us for the 2008 Hunger Solutions Minnesota Lunch and Learn Sessions. The topic for this year’s sessions is “Disaster Planning: Preparing for the Unexpected”. If there were a flood, tornado, fire or even an extended power outage, at your organization, in your community or a community nearby, are you prepared to ensure that your neighbors in need will continue to be served?

Andrea Andresen, coordinator of the SEMCAC-Rushford Food Shelf, will share her experience of the severe flooding that took place in southeastern Minnesota and her home town, the city of Rushford, during August of 2007. The flood destroyed not only the SEMCAC food shelf and administrative offices, but also Andrea’s own home. You will leave this session with five tips on what to do TODAY to make sure you have some preparation at your agency in the event of an emergency or disaster.

All meetings are free and will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Click here to see the 2008 HSM Lunch and Learn Sessions Flier that includes meeting dates and locations statewide.

If you’re wondering what you might get out of attending this session, here’s what some attendees have said,

“This was helpful – especially hearing from people who have personal experience in a flood. Thank you!”

“Getting a nitty gritty list of what to have ready is great.”

Please feel free to attend any meeting that works with your schedule. You are strongly encouraged to invite any other staff, volunteers and board members to attend. Bring as many people as you’d like but remember, registration is required. Contact Cathy Patterson to register.
