Children’s Defense Fund MN provides a strong, effective voice for all children who cannot vote, lobby or speak for themselves. CDF educates citizenry about the holistic needs of children and encourages preventive investment. Hunger Solutions links with CDF via the Partners to End Hunger Coalition in providing information about food shelf and nutritional needs in our state.

Emergency Food Network (EFN) began as a consortium of food shelves in Hennepin County. Since then, EFN has expanded its services to include food rescue and the regional Fare for All program; EFN’s mission is to provide high quality food and essential support services to all its members. Currently Hunger Solutions partners with EFN in promoting usage of its Fare for All program.

The Migrant Services Consortium is comprised of agencies that serve migrant farm workers, exchanges information, discusses emerging issues and collaborates on projects to better serve farm worker clients. Hunger Solutions Minnesota supports the consortium through information sharing and providing special addition funding for food shelves that serve migrant workers.

MN FoodShare brings caring people together to participate in Minnesota’s largest drive for the hungry: The March campaign. MN FoodShare coordinates the thousands of March campaign food drives across the state. It organizes a statewide media campaign to promote food shelf donations and acts as a central clearinghouse for all cash donations. Hunger Solutions works with MN FoodShare in the collection of statistics regarding food shelf usage, and the management of the MN Hunger Partners website.

Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless has helped hungry and homeless people throughout Minnesota since 1986. As a statewide charitable organization, they primarily assist food shelves, food banks, on-site feeding programs, shelters, transitional and permanent supportive housing programs by providing grants so that life’s most basic needs can be served. In 2005, Open Your Heart will provide Hunger Solutions with $290,000 to purchase food and distribute funding to food shelves.

The Minnesota Food and Nutrition Network at the University of Minnesota is a voluntary collaborative effort among member organizations and includes representatives from state and local governments and nonprofits. Hunger Solutions works with the member agencies to promote useful consistent nutrition messages to assist low-income Minnesotans in enjoying healthy lifestyles.

Partners to End Hunger is an alliance of non-profits whose focus revolves around eliminating hunger through advocacy, education and a commitment to healthy communities.
